Today, Paul Trask reviews some background from prior weeks, and then continues his study of Galatians, moving into chapter 3, verses 10-14.
- Ancient literature, including the New Testament and Galatians in particular, utilized a chiastic structure, wherein the climax is in the center of the work
- Galatians 3:26-29, and especially verse 29 is the climax of not only chapter 3, but of the whole book
- Here in Galatians, Paul demonstrates and explains the striking dichotomy between “flesh” and “Spirit,” equating “works of the Law” with “flesh.” This will become his especial focus in chapter 5
- Last week’s conclusion: John the Baptist, Jesus and Paul tell us that New Covenant believers become children of Abraham because they share his faith – with no regard whatever to his genetic structure
- “Today’s Jews Aren’t” genetic children of Abraham – expanded discussion from last week, of the Khazarian adoption of Judaism in the 8th century, and their ultimate migration into Eastern Europe, now know as Ashkenazi Jews. The following resources were discussed:
- Arthur Koesttler’s 1976 book, “The Thirteenth Tribe” chronicles the history of this Khazarian adoption of Judaism and migration to Eastern Europe (view on Amazon)
- Shlomo Sand’s 2010 book, “The Invention of the Jewish People,” Shlomo Sand is an Israeli professor of history at the University of Tel Aviv (view on Amazon)
- Scholar Kevin Alan Brook’s 2009 book “The Jews of Khazaria” (view on Amazon)
- From John Hopkins University, Eran Elhaik’s 2012 DNA study of global Judaism confirms that 90+% of the world’s “Jewish” population are actually Khazarian (view the report)
- Today’s population of Israel, therefore, cannot claim ancestral rights to that land, because their ancestors were never there to begin with
- “Times of Israel” article acknowledges Khazarian origins, and announces a “secret” plan of reverse migration from Israel to the Ukraine (ancient Khazaria) claiming ancestral rights (view the article)
- The slender fragment of Judaism which survived the Destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD was hijacked by the Kingdom of Khazaria and made the state religion in the 8th century, primarily for political reasons
- The American Church, and Dispensational Theology in particular, has yet to come to terms with this historic (and scientific) fact, which completely demolishes the foundational presupposition upon which that entire system of theology rests
- There are huge theological, political and geographic issues at stake in all of this
- In Galatians 3:10-14, Paul explains that the blessings of Abraham were not to be found in the legalism of the Mosaic Law, but rather a curse, and he cites 4 Old Testament texts to help illustrate his point. We look carefully at each one.
- Deuteronomy 27:26
- Habakkuk 2:4
- Leviticus 18:4-5
- Deuteronomy 21:22-23
- Christ endured the curse of God by being hung on a tree, the cross, so that “in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
- The Divine Exchange = by enduring the cross, Christ exchanged our filthy rags for “fine linen, bright and clean” (Revelation 19:8)
- The blessing originally promised through Abraham is the precious Holy Spirit of God, His very own presence, now made available to all of Abrahams spiritual children because of the completed and perfect work of Jesus Christ!
And that is Good News! It just doesn’t get any better than that!
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
